New Delhi, December 30, 2023 – In a spectacular display of skill and determination, Cristiano Ronaldo powered Al-Nassr to a resounding 4-1 victory over Al-Taawoun, securing his 54th goal of the year. The triumph not only showcased Ronaldo’s individual brilliance but also marked a significant stride for Al-Nassr as they narrowed the gap on league leaders Al-Hilal to just seven points.

Ronaldo’s decisive goal propelled him ahead in the race for the 2023 goal-scoring crown, with a two-goal lead over competitors Harry Kane of Bayern Munich and England, and Kylian Mbappe of PSG and France, both tied at 52 goals. Speaking passionately post-match, the Portuguese icon shared his elation and set an ambitious target for the upcoming year.

“I’m very happy; it was a good year for me both individually and collectively. I scored numerous goals, contributed significantly to Al-Nassr and the national team. Feeling content and upbeat, I aim to replicate this success in the coming year,” Ronaldo expressed in an interview with Saudi outlet SSC Sports.


However, amidst the jubilation, Ronaldo faced a surprising setback as he was omitted from the top 10 list of the best footballers of 2023 by the International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS). Erling Haaland claimed the coveted top spot, followed by Kylian Mbappe and Lionel Messi in second and third, respectively. The sole Portuguese representative in the esteemed list was Bernardo Silva, securing the eighth position.

Ronaldo, known for his competitive spirit, reacted strongly to the exclusion, signaling that he remains hungry for success.
