New Delhi, January 13, 2024 – In a heartwarming turn of events, Dhruv Jurel, the 22-year-old wicketkeeper-batsman, received the surprise of a lifetime as he was named in the Indian squad for the first two Tests against England. The announcement was made by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), solidifying Jurel’s position in the elite team led by Rohit Sharma, with Jasprit Bumrah as his vice-captain.

Expressing his joy, he shared, “My friends told me that I have been selected for the England series. I was very happy. I have performed well for India A. But I didn’t think about my selection for the senior team. I just focused on performing well.”

He asked me for which Indian team I have been selected. I said ‘the one with Rohit (Sharma) bhaiya and Virat (Kohli) bhaiya.’ It was an emotional moment for the entire family.”
