“BCCI’s press release remains silent on Jadeja’s fitness for third Test against England in Rajkot.”

“India’s batting plans suffer setback as KL Rahul ruled out for third Test against England due to injury. Ravindra Jadeja’s fitness status remains uncertain for the upcoming match.”
Last week, the selectors announced a 17-man squad for the final three Tests against England. Shreyas Iyer was dropped due to poor batting form, while Jadeja and Rahul were added pending fitness clearance from BCCI’s medical team. Both players missed the second Test due to injuries.

Is Ravindra Jadeja available for selection in 3rd Test against England?

The BCCI’s recent press release regarding the third Test against England in Rajkot lacked clarity on Ravindra Jadeja’s fitness status and availability for selection. While his name appeared in the updated squad with an asterisk denoting fitness clearance pending, there was no explicit mention of his readiness. Unlike KL Rahul, who didn’t report for the match, Jadeja joined the Indian squad for practice. However, according to a PTI report, his participation remains uncertain as the BCCI medical team isn’t fully confident in his match fitness.

If Ravindra Jadeja is deemed fit for selection, his inclusion would undoubtedly bolster the Indian playing XI. This would inevitably pose a selection dilemma, requiring a choice between all-rounder Axar Patel and leg-spinner Kuldeep Yadav for the third Test. The decision would hinge on tactical considerations and the team’s strategy for the match ahead.
