“Two new fatalities, one reported in Kerala and the other in Karnataka, emerged within the ministry’s 8 am data update over the past 24 hours.”
NEW DELHI :- In the latest health ministry update, India experienced a concerning surge in Covid cases, with 760 new infections reported in a single day. Additionally, two more lives were lost to the viral disease, bringing the total number of active cases to 4,423. The fatalities occurred in Kerala and Karnataka within a 24-hour span, according to the ministry’s 8 am data. This resurgence in cases follows a period of lower daily numbers till December 5, with the increase attributed to the emergence of a new variant and cold weather conditions.
Despite the recent uptick in cases, it’s crucial to note the significant strides in India’s battle against the pandemic. The daily caseload, which had peaked to lakhs at the height of the pandemic in early 2020, has witnessed a marked decline. Over the past four years, more than 4.5 crore people in the country have been infected, resulting in over 5.3 lakh deaths. However, the recovery rate stands at an impressive 98.81%, with over 4.4 crore individuals successfully overcoming the disease. Moreover, India has made commendable progress in vaccination efforts, with 220.67 crore Covid vaccine doses administered across the nation, as per the latest data on the ministry’s website.
