While the Iranian authorities have not immediately acknowledged the strikes, the military action by Pakistan follows Iran’s claim of targeting the Jaish al-Adl terrorist headquarters in Balochistan, an incident that allegedly resulted in casualties, including the death of two children and injuries to two others.


“In a development marking heightened tensions, multiple explosions echoed across Iran’s restive southeastern region on Thursday, particularly in the vicinity of the city of Saravan. The official IRNA news agency reported the incidents, quoting a provincial official from Sistan-Baluchistan, where the city is situated.”

Pakistan’s foreign ministry on Wednesday denounced the “unprovoked and blatant breach of Pakistan’s sovereignty” before recalling its ambassador from Iran and blocking Tehran’s envoy — currently in Iran — from returning to the country.
Tehran and Islamabad frequently accuse each other of allowing militants to operate from the other’s territory to launch attacks, but it is rare that official forces on either side engage.
