New Delhi Prepares for 9th G20 Parliamentary Speakers’ Summit with PM Inauguration
New Delhi, October 12, 2023: The grand stage is set for the 9th G20 Parliamentary Speakers’ Summit, set to unfold in New Delhi. On October 13, 2023, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will inaugurate this significant event, commencing at around 11 AM, hosted with pride by the Parliament of India. This summit operates within the broader framework of India’s G20 Presidency.
The 9th P20 Summit has adopted the compelling theme, “Parliaments for One Earth, One Family, One Future,” perfectly aligned with India’s overarching theme during its G20 Presidency. The guest list reads like a who’s who of global leadership, with Speakers of Parliaments from G20 member nations and invitee countries confirming their attendance.
An exceptional addition to this summit is the inaugural presence of the Pan-African Parliament, marking their entry into the group after the African Union’s G20 membership status was ratified during the New Delhi G20 Leaders’ Summit on September 9-10, 2023.
The P20 Summit will feature thematic sessions exploring four vital subjects: “Transformation in People’s Lives through Public Digital Platforms,” “Women-led Development,” “Accelerating Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs),” and “Sustainable Energy Transition.”
Before the summit officially kicks off, a pre-summit Parliamentary Forum on LiFE (Lifestyle for Environment) is scheduled for October 12, 2023. This forum will serve as a platform for in-depth discussions and initiatives aimed at nurturing a greener and more sustainable future in harmony with the natural world.
