PM Modi spearheads a transformative wave in Sambalpur, Odisha, inaugurating projects surpassing Rs 68,000 crore. From energy to education, the initiatives promise comprehensive development and job opportunities for the region.

Sambalpur, Odisha – February 4, 2024: In a monumental stride towards comprehensive development, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated, dedicated to the nation, and laid the foundation stone for projects exceeding Rs 68,000 crore in Sambalpur, Odisha. The ambitious initiatives spanned across key sectors, including energy, road infrastructure, railways, and higher education.

The energy sector received a significant boost with the inauguration of multiple power projects, totaling approximately Rs 28,980 crores, aimed at enhancing natural gas, coal, and power generation. Additionally, three road sector projects under National Highways, with a cumulative cost of about Rs 2110 crores, were inaugurated, bolstering the region’s connectivity.

The railway sector witnessed noteworthy developments, with the dedication and foundation stone laying for projects worth around Rs 2146 crores. The redevelopment of Sambalpur Railway Station was initiated, promising improved facilities and efficiency in rail services.

Prime Minister Modi flagged off the Puri-Sonepur-Puri Weekly Express, enhancing connectivity and easing transportation for the residents. Furthermore, he inaugurated the permanent campus of the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) in Sambalpur, reinforcing the region’s prominence in higher education.

In a momentous announcement, PM Modi declared the conferment of Bharat Ratna, India’s highest civilian award, upon former Deputy Prime Minister Lal Krishna Advani. Acknowledging Advani’s remarkable contributions as Deputy Prime Minister, Home Minister, and Information and Broadcasting Minister, Modi emphasized the award as a symbol of the nation’s gratitude for a lifetime dedicated to service.

The establishment of IIM Sambalpur, amidst the challenges posed by the pandemic, further solidifies the state’s role in fostering modern education.

In his address, Prime Minister Modi envisioned a ‘Viksit Bharat’ (Developed India) and emphasized the collective development of all states.
