Real Madrid secured a comfortable 3-1 victory over Arandina in the Copa del Rey, with Joselu opening the scoring from the penalty spot in the 54th minute. Despite a resilient effort from the fourth-division hosts, Real Madrid’s Arda Guller made a promising debut after recovering from injuries, and Rodrygo’s stoppage-time goal sealed the win. Atletico Madrid also advanced to the last 16, defeating Lugo 3-1 with goals from Angel Correa and a second-half double from Memphis Depay. Meanwhile, Real Betis, the 2022 cup champions, suffered a shocking 1-0 defeat against Alaves, marking their first cup defeat in regular time since 2019.

Girona progressed with a 2-0 win over Elche, thanks to Daley Blind’s first-half goal and Yan Couto’s second-half contribution. Rayo Vallecano secured a 2-0 victory over Huesca in extra time, courtesy of goals from Oscar Valentin and Isi Palazon.

As the Spanish Cup action continues with 10 more games on Sunday, including Barcelona’s match against fourth-tier Barbastro, the round of 16 matches are set to be played on January 17.
