Embarking on a transformative journey, the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra, launched by the Hon’ble Prime Minister, is bringing vital health services to the doorstep of Gram Panchayats nationwide.
New Delhi, January 19, 2024 – In a significant stride towards enhancing public health, the ongoing Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra has achieved a commendable milestone with a cumulative footfall exceeding 5 crore participants across nearly 2 lakh health camps. This extensive initiative, conducted in Gram Panchayats and Urban Local Bodies, has emerged as a cornerstone in promoting health awareness and accessibility.
Under the flagship scheme of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW), the Ayushman Bharat – Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) has been instrumental in creating more than 2.61 crore Ayushman cards. The distribution of physical cards to beneficiaries, facilitated through the Ayushman app, has seen a total distribution of 48,96,774 physical cards to date.
In the fight against Tuberculosis (TB), the health camps have successfully screened over 2.62 crore individuals, with more than 9,93,800 individuals referred to higher public health facilities. The Pradhan Mantri TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (PMTBMA) has garnered support, with over 3,62,700 patients consenting to receive assistance from Nikshay Mitras, and an additional 99,100 new Nikshay Mitras registered.

The Nikshay Poshan Yojana (NPY) has been actively providing monetary assistance to TB patients through Direct Benefit Transfer. The details of 69,300 beneficiaries have been collected to ensure seamless aid.
In areas with a predominant tribal population, the screening for Sickle Cell Disease (SCD) has covered over 31.34 lakh people. Out of these, 60,900 individuals tested positive and were promptly referred to higher public health facilities for management.
For Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs), screening of the eligible population (30 years and above) for Hypertension and Diabetes has been a focus. A staggering 4,25,76,600 people have been screened, with more than 16,44,900 individuals suspected to have Hypertension and over 11,74,700 suspected to have Diabetes. A substantial 25,50,700 people have been referred to higher public health facilities for further evaluation and care.

Embarking on a journey to extend the reach of central government schemes across the nation, the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra was officially kickstarted by the Hon’ble Prime Minister on November 15th from Khunti, Jharkhand. This ambitious initiative aims to saturate the benefits of various schemes directly to the grassroots level.
As a dynamic facet of the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra, Health Camps are taking center stage at the halting points of the Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) Van in the Gram Panchayats.
